Happy New Year!
November and December were busy months at Saint Gregory’s as we maintained traditions, created new experiences, and continued a surprisingly normal routine at school.
Students and faculty celebrated the last day of the 2020 school year with an afternoon of sledding on more than 22 inches of snow!
Thanksgiving, particularly this year during the pandemic, was a time to reflect and express gratitude for family, teachers, being together at school, and giving to those less fortunate.
St. Ann’s & St. John’s Food Drive
Our eighth graders continued the tradition of the annual food drive for St. Ann’s and St. John’s Outreach center.
Our Christmas giving tree was filled with gift cards and presents from our generous community for the patients at Albany Med’s Duker Children’s Hospital.
The preschoolers collaborated and filled more than 20 backpacks for children in need.
This year Mrs. Graham’s 1st grade and Ms. Zeh and Dr. Meyer’s 5th grade classes and their families, joined forces to adopt two children in crisis from the organization called Things of My Very Own out of Schenectady! Due to their enormous generosity, the two children’s wish lists were completely taken care of and then some! Some of the items donated were shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, clothing, coats, hats, gloves, boots, headphones, toys and so much more!
Letters of Appreciation
And Upper School English students and fourth graders wrote letters of appreciation to elderly people at two different assisted living facilities in the area.
Officer Taylor Carey is educating our fifth graders about drug abuse through the D.A.R.E. program.
Knights vs Dragons Kickball Game
The annual Knights versus Dragons game was held outside and instead of basketball it was a kickball game. The Knights, for the second year, defeated the Dragons. Great competitors!
Academic Quiz Bowl
Upper School students participated for the first time in the Academic Quiz Bowl. Our first competition was a fun learning experience. We have three more meets….all virtual.
After-School Coding Club
Ms. Richers resumed after-school activities with a Coding Club offered to second and third graders.
