This month’s highlights included Valentine’s Day, the performance of Jan Brett’s “The Mitten,” Winter Break, preparing for Lent, and two undefeated basketball teams!



Season of Lent

After returning from Winter Break, some of our Lower School students received the Sacrament of First Reconciliation, while other students prepared for the Season of Lent.


First Reconciliation

Nine students received the Sacrament of First Reconciliation on February 26. Father Doyle heard their confessions after Ash Wednesday Mass.


Painting of the Stations of the Cross 

Please join us on March 6 at 7:30 a.m. as our faculty and students pray the Stations of the Cross, which were drawn and painted by students.


Sports Update!

Junior Boys’ basketball team beat Boght Hills to complete an undefeated regular season, 12-0
They’ve earned a bye and will play the winner of St. Matt’s & Halfmoon on
Saturday March 14th (@ Maple Hill H.S.)

Biddy Girls’ basketball team beat Hoosic Valley in their final regular season game. They finished undefeated at 8-0. They’ve earned a playoff spot and will play Rensselaer
Friday March 6th 5:45 p.m. at the Troy CYO Center.


Coach Nancy!

Thank you Coach Nancy Cavotta! Dr. Cavotta, mother of Carter (Class of 2019) volunteered her time to coach the Saint Gregory’s Biddy Girls’ basketball team.
After a recent win, the girls celebrated a win with some ice cream!


Second Grade Science

Second grade used the Engineering Design Process to design and build devices with the purpose of preventing popsicles from melting. They learned about states of matter as well as insulators and conductors in preparation for the project. At the completion of the experiment they measured the water to determine how much of the popsicle melted.

Kindergarten Presents “The Mitten”

With the help of some Upper School students, our kindergartners and Pre-K3 students performed the musical “The Mitten,” based on the book by Jan Brett.

Internet Safety

The Parents’ Association hosted an internet safety forum for parents and faculty where they learned valuable lessons about how to monitor and maintain the safe use of the internet. Thank you to the Colonie Police Department and their Computer Crimes Unit for their eye-opening presentation.
