Saint Gregory’s is happy to spotlight Ava Oberting, class of 2021, for her success as a Jumper in the equestrian world. Together, she and her mare Fifty Fifty have been collecting numerous blue ribbons and Division Championships from Wellington, Florida, Traverse City, Michigan and locally in Saratoga, NY. All of these accomplishments have been against top competitors on an international level. We are so proud!
We can’t wait to see what else Ava accomplishes with Stepping Stone Farm and her next three years at the Emma Willard School.
We are thrilled to recognize Michael Uccellini, a Saint Gregory’s School alum, for being recognized by the Times Union as a Top 15 CEO!
Michael was recognized in July for his contributions to his company, United Group, a real estate company that has completed projects worth billions. An article on ugoc.com details the achievements Michael has earned, including the work he has done through giving back and caring for the community.
Saint Gregory’s owes a thank you to Michael and the entire Uccellini family for their donations to our school. Without alumni like the Uccellinis, we would not have the resources that make us such an incredible and unique place for our students. Last year, we dedicated our annual Gala to the Uccellini family as a way of recognizing the impact they have had on our school.
Congratulations to Antonio Fazio, a 2013 Saint Gregory’s alum, for his performance at the Arnold Sports Festival 2022! Antonio came in second place in the Arnold RAW Pro Bench Event. Nationally, Antonio set an American record for a bench press at 453 pounds in 2020.
Following his time at Saint Gregory’s, Antonio attended the Albany Academy and then went on to Sage College where he competed in the Collegiate Nationals. Now, his powerlifting career continues, which you can follow on his Instagram.
Congrats to Saint Gregory’s School alum, Reade Ben, for his achievement in receiving a Fulbright scholarship! Reade will go on to pursue a research project in Serbia where he will be focused on foreign direct investments. This fellowship will be administered through the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
Before graduation from Princeton this year with the highest honor, Reade was an intern at the White House and served as a class senator.
We are so proud to have been a part of Reade’s journey and we are looking forward to his next accomplishment.
Congrats to William Helm, SGS ’14, for winning the Liberty League co-Defensive Player of the Year Award and leading his team, the St. Lawrence Saints, to the NCAA Lacrosse tournament. William’s award is the result of his 14-4 record, .896 penalty kill percentage (ranking first nationally) and his 930 minutes placed.
William also received USILA All-American accolades, along with being named in the All-Liberty League Honorable Mentions and the Liberty League All-Academic team. During his senior year in high school at Hotchkiss, William was the caption of his lacrosse team, preparing him for all the success he would have at St. Lawrence.
Congratulations to SGS alum and Division 1 basketball player Kieran O’Haire ’17 and the rest of the Providence Friars on their regular season Big East Championship. The Friars earned an at large bid to the NCAA tournament as a #4 seed where the team made it to the “Sweet 16” in the NCAA’s March Madness tournament.
Kieran played basketball at Albany Academy after Saint Gregory’s where he was named captain in his senior year and won the New York State Championship in 2019. He played AAU basketball for the New York Havoc outside of Albany Academy.
At Saint Gregory’s, we love to hear from all of our alumni. If you’re an SGS alum with an achievement to share, we want to put you on our website. Fill out our alumni achievement form.
